Scubanaut Diving Club has an active training programme that encourages new and existing members to develop and practice their skills through courses, refresher sessions and skill development courses. Please contact the Training Officer, Nick Keightley, regarding any training needs or questions.
Ocean Diver
We have several Ocean diver trainees who are currently completing their theory lessons and assessments. A new Ocean Diver course will commence 02 July 2008.
Sports Diver
A new Sports Diver course commenced 26 March 2008. The six lectures will be taking place at the pool at 8.30pm on a weekly basis. The Sheltered Water lesson will take place at the pool between lectures 2 and 3. Open water and Dry Practical session dates are to be advised.
Dive Leader
We currently are completing Dive Leader theory, practical and Open Water skills courses for members, as well as pre-2002 Sport Diver cross-over training. Theory lectures are taking place on pool nights or otherwise by arrangement. We are planning to complete open water skill training, including Dive Manager practicals for many trainees during our Easter Trip. For those who can't make it at Easter we will be arranging further training sessions during April and May.For those who missed the Rescue Manager practical training at Blue Lagoon we are planning to conduct a further session during the summer.
Cross-over
We welcome divers from PADI, SAA, CMAS and other diving organisations and can organise appropriate cross-over training to suit individual requirements.
Instructor Training
We have four club members attending the BSAC Open Water Instructor Course (OWIC) on Saturday 19th April at Blue Lagoon (South Yorkshire). The course is open to Dive Leaders or above who have attended the IFC course. We understand spaces are still available. Bookings can be made through bsac.org
